Some thoughts on the principles that will guide my representation of District 20.
Ronald Reagan once said, Any government big enough to give you every thing you need is big enough to take every thing you have". I am passionate about our country and the liberty and prosperity it has provided for millions of people. The uniqueness of the providential history of America among all the nations of the world demostrates that God indeed rules in the affairs of men. My devotion to Constitutional Justice has been demostrated by my ten years as General Counsel of the Justice Foundation, fighting for life, limited government, parental rights and private property, and seventeen years spent as a college professor espousing these principles to the next generation.
The Declaration of Independence of our nation recognizes that we are all created beings and endowed by our Creator with certain unalienable rights. First among those rights recognized by the Declaration is the right to life. It is not a right granted by the Declaration or the Constitution, but a right granted by Almighty God the Creator and recognized in those documents. Without life, no other right can be enjoyed. Abortion denies that First Right among all God given rights the right to Life, but abortion not only denies the fundamental right to life of the child, it destroys the lives of women, men and families. I have talked with hundreds of women and have reviewed thousands of sworn statements of women who grieve deeply for the children they aborted and who have experienced severe physical, emotional, and psychological injuries from abortion. Vote for me and I will do all within my power to stop the maiming of women and killing of babies in our country. This is the greatest moral challenge we face as a nation we will not fully prosper as a nation until we turn away from abortion as a policy of government.
As a husband who lost his first wife to cancer after a three-year battle, I faced near financial ruin because the insurer refused to pay for her treatment. I am still paying for the injustice of that decision on the part of the insuror. I understand the horrors of medical emergencies which should not include catastrophic financial losses, particularly when insurance has already been purchased. Vote for me and I will work for solutions that do not compromise our freedoms or medical quality. I am opposed to the "Health Care" Bill which is nothing more than a grab for Federal economic power. See more about freeing up resources to pay for healthcare without a tax increase on The Jackson Security Plan page.
The Stimulus Bill added 16,500 IRS agents but did not educate one doctor or build one hospital. Though States have authority to mandate having car insurance to drive, the Federal government has no authority to meddle in our personal affairs and threaten fines or jail for not buying something. It is never morally or ethically acceptable to take from one person to give to another—especially under the guise of creating jobs. Government is not capable of creating anything. They can only take what has already been made. When government stops controlling the resources of the people, which has been proven again and again, the economy will grow and become prosperous again. I favor tax cuts to the people over the Democrat's tax and spend policies that waste resources and impoverish our children. See more about launching immediate recovery and sustained economic growth with The Jackson Security Plan.
I believe that higher and higher taxes are destroying the nation. We face the greatest tax hike in history if the Obama Administration allows the Bush tax cuts to expire for the middle class and job proceducers. The modern American taxpayer pays a greater percentage of his income and wealth to taxes at all levels then a medieval serf did to his feudal lord. For the people and the nation to prosper, we must leave resources in the hands of the people. See more on how to balance the budget and pay off the debt without a tax increase with The Jackson Security Plan.
Since the bailouts, buyouts and bribeouts began, the national debt has increased by over $2 trillion—a trillion is a million millions—enough to make millionaires out of every man, woman, and child in San Antonio and Austin. Our national debt presently stands at over $13 trillion. Our government can go bankrupt (some say it already is) as it has happened before in history to other nations. We must stop the spending and pay off the debt so that our children’s children will have the blessings of liberty we enjoy. See more on paying off the debt with The Jackson Security Plan.
The Second Ammendment is essential to an ordered liberty and it must be observed. Every man, every woman has a right to defend their life, their liberty, and their homes and lives from those who would take from them. It has been repeatedly demonstrated that when the general public is armed, crime goes down. I have defended the right to keep and bear arms in the United States Supreme Court. I will continue to defend that right in Congress.
Peace through strength is the only effective way to preserve our liberties. My son Sgt. John Byron Trotter has personally paid the highest price for our liberty. He was killed in Iraq in 2004. I believe as my son and Winston Churchill believed: " . . . victory . . . ." is the only option in war. When freedom rings in that region; when the people are no longer oppressed by powerful regimes; when no government poses an immediate threat to the security of the United States; we and the innocent people of the Middle East have achieved success.
My support for the military is first and foremost. Those who lay their lives on the line for the nation should not only receive our absolutely greatest moral and logistical support on the battle field, and when they return home, we should do everything possible to ensure their prosperity in into peacetime society and provide them with the finest life time medical care available.
First we secure our borders. I support measures to hold the Federal Government accountable to the people for its obvious ignoring of responsibilities to protect our borders, freedom and way of life. Then, we deal justly with illegals. We are a nation which is ruled by law and not men. The reason people come here is because of our laws. Amnesty does not work, it was tried once before during the Reagan Administration and now we have ten times the illegal aliens in the country we had then. We must streamline and create efficient systems for handling legal immigration but a blanket amnesty is not a practical or viable option.
As a follower of Jesus Christ, whom I love, I recognize that we are a Christian nation, founded on Christian principles that ensure the benefits of religious tolerance and freedom of conscience and speech to all Americans Christian or non Christian. History, custom, demographics, US Supreme Court opinions, and the heart felt confession of millions demonstrate this is a Christian nation. Vote for me and I will stand for religious liberty and freedom for all.
Thank you,
Clayton Trotter
